14 Ways to Satisfy Your Clients and Exceed their Expectations
  By Jennifer Davey

You have heard the old adage “Under Promise and Over Deliver”. To consistently exceed your client’s expectations, you need to come up with tactics that don’t cost you too much or take up a lot of your time.  You’re a small business; you don’t have a big “staff” to take care of your clients.

Getting Clients is very important. Keeping your clients is critical!

Here are 14 ways to Exceed your Clients Expectations.

  1. Deliver what you promised. Ok, this one is obvious… but many times, this is why clients are not satisfied.
  2. Meet your deadlines. Clients need to feel valued and important. Meeting your deadlines makes them feel this way.
  3. Keep the client informed as to what is going on. After a client hires you, touch base and keep touching base. Let them know where you are on the project or how excited you are to start. Let them know you received their emails, their files, etc. Touch base with clients regularly during the course of your time working together. Send clients status updates. This makes your client feel very important and taken care of.
  4. Return phone calls and emails. This is so important! If you don’t have time just email to say, “I got your email, and won’t be able to get back to in detail in till tomorrow (or next week)”.  Ignoring your clients is a surefire way to disappoint.
  5. Educate your clients on how to buy in your industry. Knowing how the buying process works and the pitfalls within your industry will help your client feel more confident and satisfied.
  6. Build a relationship with your clients. Don’t just reach out when you want to sell them something. Make sure your clients are subscribed to your Newsletter (which contains interesting INFORMATION, not just ads). Check in regularly to say hello. Forward clients interesting (and relevant) articles.
  7. Become a resource for your clients.  Refer, refer, refer them! Share your contacts with your clients. Help them find the experts they need. (Big Plus! This will help with your strategic alliances)
  8. Work with your ideal clients. By working with your ideal clients, you will already be in a great position to satisfy your clients.
  9. Offer your clients more. When clients purchase something from you, offer them extras such as bonus reports, white papers, or a small gift that that will help them with the problem you solve.
  10. Accept Feedback. Be open to feedback from your clients. Let them know you are interested in hearing what they have to say.
  11. Meet your clients’ needs. Make sure you are offering what they want. Ask your if there is something they want that you are not offering, then offer it.
  12. Be pleasant! This goes a long way. Clients want to be treated with respect.
  13. Offer your knowledge as suggestions. You’re the expert. Share your expertise by offering suggestions.
  14. Be clear about costs and fees. No one likes surprises.
