Marketing Metrics. It’s a topic that scares the heck out of many small business owners. It sounds super scary, complicated, and time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. To get clients and make sales easily, you need to regularly access what’s working in your marketing, sales, and products/services funnels and what’s not.
Below are 6 things you can do to create marketing metrics that will help attract more clients.
1. Take a look and see if there is a place in your sales process where you consistently lose clients and customers?
If so, is there a way to document when this happens?
The more information you have, the easier it will be to improve your sales process.
2. Keep your ears open to the feedback you are getting from clients and potential clients. If you run a hamburger stand and everyone asks you for lemonade, you need to start selling lemonade.
Create a feedback spreadsheet to keep track of client suggestions.
3. Ask your clients, “What could we/I do to serve you better and to help you get the results you want?”
Create a “do better” file and watch for themes.
4. When a client complains, take stock of where they feel you are falling short. If one person took the time to complain, other people are thinking the same thing.
Create a complaints file and watch for themes.
5. Do some split testing. Send two different marketing messages out to your target market for the same offer and see which results in more sales and responses.
Take note of what worked and WHY.
6. Ask new clients “How did you hear about us?”
Create a spreadsheet to track this information and don’t forget to include the date. This will let you track where your sales are coming from.
Ultimately, your goal is to create an easy-to-implement SYSTEM that helps you track which marketing efforts are getting you leads and clients.
